Stokes Renovation

Queenscliff two-storey extension for family living

This thoughtful double-storey extension transforms a modest 86sqm weatherboard cottage into a 156sqm holiday home designed for extended family stays. Built on a compact 256sqm block, the design makes the most of the space, creating a welcoming retreat that blends comfortably into its heritage streetscape with a sloping roof and generous front setback.

The new rear extension provides flexible open plan living that caters to larger gatherings, perfect for busy summer holidays. A movable kitchen island allows the space to adapt when guests arrive, offering room for casual seating and conversation.

A relaxed, coastal-inspired colour palette connects the new spaces with the original home, while blackbutt plywood flooring in the extension contrasts beautifully with the existing Baltic pine. Exposed steel beams add a touch of industrial character and cleverly incorporate functional elements like bulkheads and services.

Large lift-and-slide glass doors open out to a north-facing deck, drawing in light and creating an easy flow between indoors and out, ideal for relaxed family living.
